Why I Only Sell Naturally Dried Flowers, (and why that matters).

There’s something deeply beautiful about flowers in their most natural state — and that’s why, at entu, I've made a conscious choice to only sell naturally dried flowers. Every stem you’ll find here has been dried without the use of bleach, dyes, or preservatives, allowing the true beauty of nature to shine through.
But why does this matter? And why have I chosen this approach for entu? Here’s a little insight into my ethos and why I believe natural is always best when it comes to dried flowers.
The Beauty of Keeping Things Natural
Naturally dried flowers have an effortless, understated beauty. Their colours may be softer, more muted, and sometimes less ‘perfect’ than chemically treated flowers — but to me, that’s exactly what makes them so special.
When a flower is dried naturally, it captures a moment in time — the season it grew in, the conditions it thrived under, and the natural tones it was meant to have. No two bunches are ever the same, and that’s part of the magic.
Using undyed, unbleached flowers also means that they remain completely biodegradable and compostable. So when the time comes to say goodbye to your arrangement, you can do so knowing it will return to the earth without causing any harm.
Why I Avoid Dyed, Bleached, and Preserved Flowers
Many dried flowers you’ll find on the market today have been chemically treated. This often involves bleaching the stems to strip them of their natural colour, and then dyeing them in vibrant, unnatural shades like bright blue or neon pink. Some are even sprayed with a chemical preservative to make them last longer.
While these methods create bold, uniform colours and textures, they come at a cost:
- They are not biodegradable – Bleached and preserved flowers often contain synthetic chemicals that won’t break down naturally in compost.
- The process is harmful – Bleaching and dyeing require heavy chemicals, water, and energy. It’s a process that’s damaging to the environment.
- They lose their authenticity – Nature is rarely perfect. The natural hues of dried flowers — soft creams, dusky pinks, golden wheat tones — are far more beautiful (and sustainable) than anything artificial.
By rejecting these practices, I’m able to offer something far more meaningful — dried flowers in their purest form.
Sourcing Sustainably
At entu, I take great care in sourcing my flowers. Almost everything comes from family-owned farms across the UK, with nothing travelling further than Europe. These farms often use traditional methods of drying, where flowers are simply air-dried in warm, well-ventilated barns. No chemicals. No interference. Just nature doing its thing.
This also means I’m supporting local growers and small businesses, and avoiding unnecessary carbon footprints from international imports. It’s slow, considered floristry — and I believe it’s the right way to do things.
The Difference It Makes
If you’ve ever held a naturally dried flower in your hand, you’ll know there’s something special about it. The texture, the slightly faded tone, the gentle way it moves — it’s something a chemically preserved flower can never quite replicate.
A bunch of natural dried flowers feels like bringing a little piece of the wild into your home. They’ll remind you of summer meadows, countryside walks, and moments spent outdoors. And when they’ve lived their life, they’ll return to the earth, exactly as they should.
This is what I want for entu — flowers that tread lightly on the planet and celebrate natural beauty in all its imperfect, wonderful glory.
A Better Way Forward
Selling naturally dried flowers isn’t the easiest route, nor is it always the most commercially profitable — but it’s the one that feels right. Every stem you find here is sustainably sourced, naturally dried, and made to be loved without guilt.
And so when you choose a bouquet from entu, you’re not just bringing beauty into your home — you’re supporting a kinder, slower, and more sustainable way of working with nature. One where nothing is wasted, and everything is cherished.
Because nature really doesn’t need improving — it’s already perfect.
